2024 - Removing the stabilisers.

Over the last four years, God has called the Church to take stock and truthfully look at where she is and what she has become, as a body and individually. It has been an opportunity to repent and realign with God's Holiness and purity. There has been special favour for healing old trauma and handing over self-protective habits in exchange for God's goodness and joy. When learning to ride a bike while the stabilisers are left on, it's impossible to know how good your balance is. I see the Lord removing the stabilisers off His people in 2024. The practice season is over. It's time to step into maturity, where faith no longer relies on external structures but instead uses the strong core muscles of faith, built internally with the teaching of the Holy Spirit. There will be those pleasantly surprised at the strength built in their core with the Lord in the past season. They will thrive in the freedom, speed and agility that comes when stabilisers are removed. Some won't do as well as they expected. There will be scraped knees and elbows and damaged pride. But get up and try again. This testing isn't to shame or embarrass but to expose weak spots while there's time to have another go. Ask the Lord to show you where you are over-reliant on the faith of others or where you've allowed compromise to sneak in. Ask why you struggle to trust God and ask Him to heal it. Where does your faith need building? Others will refuse to ride without stabilisers and, in fear, will try to convince others that it's wrong. "It's prideful to try. It's independence! We need these structures for protection and safety. We must fight to keep them on." Brothers and sisters, we are entering a time of greatness. Great harvest and great persecution. Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, our faith will be tested by fire, not of the Lord's making. He will be with us in it, but allow His fire to prepare you in advance. Then, we will stand victorious. As this generation have balance bikes that train and build core muscles first, before learning how to pedal, equip the young in faith to ride without stabilisers from the beginning. Teach them how to listen to the Lord's voice, discern, and be led by the Holy Spirit. Walk alongside them as they learn to balance without wavering to the left or right. The works will come easily enough once the balance is established.

Psalm 139:23 Search me, God, and know my heart;

    test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me,

    and lead me in the way everlasting.

Daniel 3

Romans 12:1- Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Psalm 22 - Good Friday's Soundtrack

 Our house feels like living inside a musical. Not necessarily in the song quality, but definitely in quantity. It’s hard to say "Hello," "You're welcome," or "We're halfway there" without someone breaking into song. And it’s not just music. Our days are packed with lines from films, adverts, and TV shows. “Coffee, coffee, boy, do I need coffee!” “Bacon is good for me!” I’m not sure it’s entirely normal (which is why I try to restrain myself in public), but it’s definitely normal in our house. One phrase triggers the whole thing—someone says a single line, and the rest of the song or scene starts playing in everyone’s heads. Just like that, an everyday comment becomes a full production. And when Jesus was on the cross, he did just the same. He said: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” To the Roman soldiers crucifying him, it probably sounded like a dying man's cry. To someone reading the Bible today, it can sound as if Jesus believed ...

Little Compromises 1/3

Having been married for the past 25 years, and being a mum to two daughters, I've learnt a little about the importance of compromise. The daily compromises we make like having a Chinese takeaway instead of the Indian you fancy and watching James Bond, Dora the explorer or a rom-com for the 20th time just to spend time cuddling on the sofa with your loved ones, all build strong bonds. Knowing someone loves you enough to lay down their desires so yours can be fulfilled is precious. Of course there are the not so fun filled compromises too! The debates and on going negotiations of what time is bedtime or maybe how many hours your partner is spending at work/the gym/ the pub. In healthy relationships, both parties share their point of view so the other can take it into consideration, weigh it up and see if they're willing to meet somewhere in the middle. We see Moses had ths kind of relationship with God. In Exodus 4:10-18 God chose Moses to speak to Pharaoh, Moses wanted Him to ch...
